Diane asked for a chocolate adaptation for the previously published, "Lemon Explosions!" and after reviewing suggestions I found on the interweb, I tried a chocolate variation.
For the chocolate version, substitute chocolate cake mix and chocolate pudding mix instead of yellow cake mix and lemon pudding mix.
Follow the recipe as normal. For the glaze, I cut it down by half as I had way too much glaze the first go-round. Instead of lemon juice, I just used water. I also cut out the lemon zest and didn't add a substitute (I guess you could use coffee to make a mocha flavor). The glaze amount was more reasonable, though I kind of ran out and just glazed the tops of the last few mini-muffins.
So the chocolate version is pretty good and I vouch for its feasibility. However, I don't think it's as good as the original lemon version. There's just something about that lemon that makes it vocal-exclamation-after-you-bite-into-it good.
