The peanut butter burger is one of those things that I heard about and/or saw on the Food Network a long time ago and it's been stored away in my brain. At some social function I asked if anyone knew the place in Minnesota that had the peanut butter burger (aka the GuberBurger in MO, apparently. And the MN place in question: The Blue Door Pub). Then I said in half-jest that I could just make one myself. And tonight that's what I did. I tried the peanut butter burger.
Now I hear a common topping on a peanut butter burger is bacon. Needless to say, I was very disappointed that I didn't have any bacon on hand as bacon makes everything better. I also hear that people put things on it like cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. I wasn't ready to commit to those things yet so I just stuck with the plain burger and peanut butter. Since I wasn't going crazy with bacon or other toppings I decided I would really gob that peanut butter on there. If it was worth trying, it was worth going all out. As you can see from the previous picture, the peanut butter doesn't look too noticeable. I gobbed it on the straight-off-the-griddle burger. I wish I had waited a little so the peanut butter wouldn't melt all the way through.
So how did it taste? It tasted good. My burger was juicy and a bit salty (I put on some Von Hanson's secret seasoning for meat, whatever that is) and the peanut butter was melty and a bit salty. But it was a different kind of salty which made it match the burger and did not overwhelm me by the combination of their salty powers. So, in short, it just worked. I hear it's not for everyone though. I highly enjoyed it and I bet I would enjoy it more with bacon...mmm, bacon.

Hm...interesting. I think that would be quite tasty! I've been to the Blue Door and I love that place. Perhaps on my next trip back I shall sample the PB Burger.
